Description
This Malmuk carpet was hand-knotted by our NOA master weavers in Agra, India. It is a brilliant reproduction of 15th and 16th century styles from West Asia and North Africa (Egyptian, Turkish, Syrian). This Malmuk rug is distinguished by an egalitarian symmetry, with alternating floral shapes being employed, colored variously in hues of crimson and coral. Employing permanent vegetable dyes, the piece is also distinguished by its extremely high thread count – 144 knots per square inch. This object may also be interpreted as a “pictorial carpet” or “rug tableau.” That is, it is intended to be hung on the wall (or laid on the floor). NOA Living believes in “slow fashion” production, i.e., producing a piece that is constructed superbly with quality materials selected for present and future generations. NOA Living is a “GoodWeave” certified business. “The GoodWeave label means that no child, forced or bonded labor, was employed in the construction of this certified product, and that your purchase supports programs that educate children and ensure humane work conditions for adults.”
