Low Table (Tibet)

Low Table (Tibet)

12 x 59 x 18 ″Hand crafted from pinewood; painted, lacqueredThis piece was designed and constructed in the nation of Tibet. Historical accounts assert that in Tibet, furniture of any kind only existed in monasteries and lamaseries. The secular home, regardless of financial assets of its occupants or their religious following, had no furniture as such. Accordingly, Tibetan furniture is actually Buddhist furniture. Notable on this piece are the attractively flowered tapestries on the front drawers.
