“Magical” : The Stories of Objects

In this edition of twelve photographs, traditional African objects are juxtaposed in minimally curated compositions. Placed into a neutral context, the objects are invited to play center stage, thus tapping into their full expressive potential. While each object has a complex story of its own, they also suggest a narrative in relation to each other. Drenched in rich shadows, with figures emerging from a soft, ambiguous darkness, the objects in their frame create a moment of repose during which we too can believe in the spiritual magic of the world.
