Description
Senufo stools are traditional handcrafted stools originating from the Senufo people in West Africa, particularly in the regions of Ivory Coast, Mali, and Burkina Faso. They were used for a variety of purposes in traditional Senufo culture, including as seating during important social and religious events, as a symbol of authority for important individuals such as chiefs and elders, and as a means of storage for personal items. In terms of their creation, Senufo stools were typically made from a single piece of wood, often sourced from trees in the surrounding forest. The process of making a Senufo stool involved carving the design into the wood using simple tools such as knives, chisels, and hammers. Once the design was completed, the stool was often polished to bring out the beauty of the wood and highlight the intricate carvings. Overall, Senufo stools are an integral part of the Senufo people’s cultural heritage and are valued both for their aesthetic beauty and cultural significance.
