Description
This elegant vessel is hand constructed of terra-cotta clay by the Mandingo People from Guinea-Bissau. It is marked by a beautifully symmetrical, oval form and a wide, beveled lip containing subtle, inner striations. Around the middle lie a circular band of three, striated lines that function both aesthetically and as a grip mechanism while pouring or drinking. This pot is employed for consumption of local beer and wine in domestic contexts and during various cultural enactments.
